Elisabete Pereira

A researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History (FCSH – Universidade Nova de Lisboa), where she is a member of the History of Science, Technology and Environment research group, at the University of Évora and a member of the management board. She holds a PhD (2017) and a has carried out postdoctoral research (2021) in History and Philosophy of Science, specialising in Museology. She obtained funding from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in 2023 as part of the Africa-Europe exchange project on Museums of the Future, “TheMuseumsLab”, integrating researcher residences in Berlin, Cologne and Nairobi. She was distinguished in 2019 by the European Association of History Educators (EuroClio) and the Evens Foundation for her inclusive teaching strategy for secondary school students, the “Sharing European Histories” project. A member of the coordination team for the Dictionary “Who’s Who in Portuguese Museology”. Her fields of research are the history of science and Museology, within which she explores the cultural and transnational history of museums (19th-20th centuries), biographies of objects, and issues of decolonisation and transdisciplinarity.
