Maria Filomena Gonçalves
A full professor at the University of Évora (ECS/Department of Linguistics and Literature), she holds a PhD in Portuguese Linguistics/History of the Portuguese Language (1999) and Aggregation in History of the Portuguese Language and Linguistic Historiography (2008). She took part in the following international projects: Lusismos Atlánticos, s. XIX-XXI (University of La Laguna, Spain); FRONTESPO 3P- Spanish-Portuguese border: personas, pueblos e palabras (University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain). She has dedicated her efforts to the historical study of the lexicon and varieties of Portuguese. Publications include “Orthography and Orthoepy”, “Dictionaries of Language Difficulties” (In Manual of Standardization in the Romance Languages, Berlin/Boston, 2020) and “A Arte de Enfermeiros (1741): aspetos do léxico relativo a doenças e remédios no século XVIII” (Revista Panace@); a coletânea O Barranquenho como língua de contacto o contexto românico (Gonçalves & Navas, eds., Lisboa, Colibri, 2021); Digital humanities and Portuguese processing: a research pathway (Vieira et al., 2022). “Literacies and Textual Heritage” research group leader, CIDEHUS (2011-2019). Since 2019, Programa de Preservação e Valorização do Património Barranquenho leader, funded by Barrancos Town Council and conducted jointly with the council and other entities. Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and Traditional know-how: Linking Heritage.
