Teresa Girão
Teresa Girão has been dedicated to a career in science communication since 2007, focusing on the impact of science and of science communication on society. She is currently the Director of the Botanic Garden, Univ. Coimbra, and a research scientist at the Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet (CFE) and at the Science Museum where she was the Deputy Director for Collections (2019-2021). She has previously worked as a science communication manager at the Botanic Garden (2017-2019), as part of the Portuguese Research Infrastructure for Scientific Collections (PRISC), and as an exhibition developer at the Science Museum (2015-2017). She was an assistant researcher in science communication at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (Univ. Coimbra) (2009-2014), working as the Science Communication Officer, and she oversaw the creation of Junior Science Center at Biocant – Biotechnology Innovation Center (Cantanhede) (2007-2009). She was a post-doc fellow at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto, Canada, 2005-2007), and she holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical Technology (Univ. Coimbra, 2005).
